I’ve always wanted to be one of the bridesmaids in the wedding because aside that I get to wear a cute dress and have get a free makeover (which means a new profile picture on facebook), you get to be part of the couple’s lives forever. The bride was my office mate and even before her now husband asked her to get married I already told her that I wanted to be one of the bridesmaids which she immediately agreed to.
Days before the wedding she showed us the gowns and the invitations and we were excited as hell.
What got me jumping was 5 days before the wedding she asked me to plan her wedding events which was totally okay since google was always there to help. What really shook me was when 3 days before the wedding she asked me to host her reception party. It was awesome but the little time I had to prepare (not to mention my 14 hour work shift) really gets in me. It was amazing that I planned the party events while on a meeting and wrote the whole host script on a jeepney ride on the way home. Ideas just get to you when you need it I guess.
This is what I came up with as the wedding reception events:
- Arrival of guests
- Arranged seating of guests according to table numbers
- First set of cocktails are served
- Welcoming of the Bride and Groom
- Loyal toast to the Bride and Groom
- Prayer before meals
- Food is served
- Show proposal video (if possible)
- Take pictures with the bride and groom per table
- Toast and message to the bride and grrom
- Family of the Groom
- Family of the Bride
- Best man
- Maid of Honor
- Cutting of the Cake
- Exchange of Wine
- Letting go of the doves
- Bridal Waltz
- Going away ritual
- Throwing of the Bouquet
- Throwing of the Garter
- Wave the bride and groom goodbye and let the party continue
I’ve created the script and I must say it has been a successful reception even considering I’ve never hosted anything in my life. Looking forward to hosting more events soon.
